Triodos Bank has won the Queen's Award for Enterprise.
The non-profit sector bank won the award in the scheme's sustainable development category at a ceremony in London last week.
Triodos lends to charities and businesses that deliver social benefits.
It has most recently sponsored a share issue on behalf of Cafedirect which has raised more than £3.5m in two months.
Managing director Charles Middleton said: "Thousands of people are choosing to take control of their money and use it in positive ways. And to be one of the Queen's Award winners is a recognition of the role that Triodos Bank has in playing for this increasingly influential movement - a community of ordinary people who care about the impact of their saving and spending decisions."
Triodos' current and former customers include Queen's Award winners such as Yeo Valley Organics and green energy providers Ecotricity.
