Finance stars shine at Third Sector Excellence Awards

The South Yorkshire Community Foundation, Elizabeth Finn Care and YouthNet took the honours in the three finance categories in the Third Sector Excellence Awards.

The awards were among 23 given out last night at London's Hurlingham Club, which honoured charities and individuals that had achieved a difference in their fields.

South Yorkshire Community Foundation won the Finance Team award for its work in distributing money raised to help victims of the floods in their county in 2007.

Elizabeth Finn Care picked up the award for Innovation in Grant-Making for its work in cutting the time taken to give grants in the face of a 400 per cent rise in applications.

And YouthNet received the Enterprise award, to recognise excellence in an innovative new service, for the sale of the syndication rights to articles on its website that were written to help young people. The service, which was provided at a very low cost, has been picked up by 27 organisations, from the Financial Services Authority to Microsoft.
