Financial watchdog's chair to sit on CRUK board

Sir James Crosby, former chief executive of HBOS, has been appointed a trustee of Cancer Research UK.Crosby, currently deputy chairman of the Financial Services Authority and a non-executive director of both ITV and the Compass Group, has also joined the charity's finance committee.

“I’m delighted to have been appointed to join Cancer Research UK’s Council of Trustees,” he said. “Cancer affects one in three of us at some point in our lives, but thanks to cancer research thousands more people are beating the disease every year. I look forward to contributing to the charity’s vital work.”

David Newbigging, chairman of CRUK, said: “He’s an outstanding senior executive and will bring invaluable experience to Cancer Research UK’s council.”
