Focus: Fundraising - ChildLine supporters presented with special award

Soap star and Wessex girl Wendi Peters, who plays Cilla Brown in Coronation Street, was one of 11 key ChildLine supporters presented with a special award by HRH The Countess of Wessex.

Peters, the only celebrity to receive an award, first became involved with the charity when she took part in a sponsored abseil in Manchester two years ago. Since then, she has donated Coronation Street memorabilia, including her character's wedding dress, to raise funds for ChildLine. She has also supported numerous campaigns and raised £19,000 through appearances on TV shows such as The Weakest Link, Spelling Bee and Soapstar Superstar. Peters, who became a ChildLine ambassador at the beginning of the year, is soon to take part in Celebrity Who Wants to be a Millionaire? for the charity.
