The former finance director of a child support charity has been charged with stealing more than £100,000 from it.

Stephen Hession, 51, who was also company secretary of Peterborough Diocesan Family Care, set up to prevent child abuse, will appear in court next week to answer two counts of theft by an employee.

A spokeswoman for Cambridgeshire police said it was alleged that sums of £76,819 and £24,281 were taken from the charity over a three to four-year period.

Hession, of Broadway Gardens, Peterborough, is due to appear before Peterborough Magistrates Court on 19 July. Peterborough Diocesan Family Care declined to comment on the case.
