Free publicity is positive news for charities

A 'positive' news website has been launched with the aim of offering lower income charities free publicity.

The site, optimistworld.com, will provide a free listing for every UK charity, regardless of size.

Other features will include a weekly vote in which visitors to the site can vote for their favourite of five featured charities. There will also be a charity of the year award, with the winner announced at the optimistworld.com awards ceremony in January 2009.

Optimistworld.com, which describes itself as a news site dedicated to establishing a more positive news agenda, also includes a section on corporate social responsibility, which enables companies to list their activities.

“We want to show people that there is a more optimistic side to life,” said Achim Kram, co-founder and managing director of the website. “I think hearing about the good work UK charities are doing every day is a big part of that.”
