FUNDRAISING NEWS: Cancer Research UK expands race event with a 10km series

Cancer Research UK is celebrating 10 years of Race for Life, its 5km women's event, by launching a new 10km running series.

The charity is hoping that the new race, known as Cancer Research UK 10, will raise at least £350,000 this year, and plans to establish it as an annual event.

The series will be open to men as well as women and will be held at Leeds Castle in Kent, Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire and Castle Howard in north Yorkshire on the first weekend in October.

Cancer Research UK's national events director Louise Holland came up with the concept to give Race for Life women a new challenge, and give men who have been on the sidelines a chance to make their own contribution.

"We thought that these venues would appeal to people more than a traditional road race because they are different and special," said Holland.

Registrations can be entered from 1 June at www.cancerresearchuk.org/10.
