FUNDRAISING NEWS: A charity challenge with a literary trail

Waverley Care, the Scottish HIV charity, hopes to raise £5,000 from a novel twist on the sponsored charity challenge event.

It will base its first volunteer challenge event on locations from the classic Robert Louis Stevenson travelogue, Travels with a Donkey, to coincide with the 125th anniversary of the book.

The event, to be held next June in the Cevennes region of France, will provide readings and historical contexts along the way for a maximum of 25 participants.

John Skinner, who will lead the tour, said: "This is a chance to make every step count for Waverley Care's work."
