What is the project and when will it start? From April and in collaboration with the National Blind Children's Society, we will provide the first national large-print lending service for partially-sighted children and teenagers. They are currently only available to buy.
How many trusts or foundations did you apply to for this funding? About 10 in total, five of which were successful. In addition to the Lloyds TSB grant, four other funders gave smaller grants totalling £22,000.
Do you need further funding for the project?
Yes. This grant pays for two years' marketing and revenue costs. But we require another £18,000.
Which of your other projects has the foundation previously funded? A joint project with RNIB called Reveal, which created an accessible web database of all alternative format books in the UK.
Was the application a simple process? Yes. We approached the foundation by phone, then wrote to them with an outline and were invited to personally discuss plans in London. Then we got the go-ahead to complete an application form.
