FUNDRAISING NEWS: Help the Hospices in spreads promo

Help the Hospices is kicking off its stint as Tesco's charity of the year for 2004 with an on-pack promotion on the store's own-brand sunflower spread.

The promotion, which will run in stores from 1 March, comprises a 1p donation to the charity for every 500g pack of Tesco sunflower spread or light sunflower spread sold, and a 2p donation per 1kg pack.

"The sunflower is the emblem of the hospice movement and features in this year's charity of the year fundraising material, and therefore provides a link with this product's imagery," said Tesco spread buyer Alain Gulpain.

The partnership aims to raise £3m through staff fundraising and cause-related marketing during the year.
