Fundraising News: Holiday firm forms Macmillan link-up

Macmillan Cancer Relief has been chosen as a charity partner by holiday company TUI-UK, with a £250,000 target for the year.

The money will be used to fund six Macmillan nurses to support around 600 children with cancer.

Staff from TUI's member companies, which include Thomson Holidays and Lunn Poly, will take part in a range of fundraising activities.

TUI-UK said one of the reasons behind the partnership was the high proportion of family holidays sold through its travel agencies. The company has donated £10,000 to kick off the partnership.

Macmillan corporate development manager Ikram Dahman said he was sure staff across the group would get behind the campaign to help families affected by cancer.

"TUI-UK came on board with the idea of a two to three year partnership specifically to raise funds for nurses looking after children and families.

It fits very well with their brand of family-oriented holidays," he said.
