The RNID is to use popular cartoon characters to front a campaign to raise awareness of how loud music can cause hearing damage.
Sylvester, Tweety, Taz and Wile E. Coyote will be portrayed with musical instruments on a range of badges to be sold on the high street for a suggested donation of £1. The Don't Lose the Music campaign will coincide with the release of a major new Looney Tunes feature film in 2004.
The initiative will be launched in the spring, and is aimed at the 1.1 million 18-24 year olds who risk damaging their hearing with loud music in clubs or on headphones. As well as raising money for the RNID, the backing cards on the badges will be printed with campaign messages.
Chris Gethin, deputy director of fundraising at the RNID, said: "RNID is pleased to be working with such a fun brand as Looney Tunes. This will help carry the Don't Lose the Music campaign messages to a wider audience, as it is a brand that appeals to such a wide range of people."
