FUNDRAISING NEWS: Unicef teams with TES to get Afghan children in school

A joint venture between Unicef and the Times Educational Supplement (TES) is set to break through the £100,000 fundraising mark.

The United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) joined forces with TES for its campaign to rebuild education in Afghanistan and, since its launch in March, more than £90,000 has been raised through fundraising events organised by teachers in UK schools.

Children helping Children aims to get more than four million primary children back to school in Afghanistan. The money raised will provide blackboards, books and stationery, as well as support Unicef's public campaign in Afghanistan to encourage parents to send their children to school.

The campaign was set to conclude at the end of the summer term, but following its popularity at schools, events have been planned for after that date and may continue into the winter term.
