FUNDRAISING NEWS: Welsh mining areas receive fund boost

Organisations that work towards restoring communities in Welsh former mining areas have been given the go-ahead to begin the funding application process from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.

The trust is an independent grant-making body dedicated exclusively to the regeneration of mining communities. It has been awarded £1 million from the National Assembly for Wales.

Trust spokesperson David Bruce said: "We have invited groups to send us an expression of interest in receiving a grant. These will be filtered by a panel and those that get through will be allowed to apply for funding.
