Geordie ambassador

Four children from Derby appear alongside former England captain Alan Shearer in a video on child protection. The film was shot as part of a Football Association (FA) awareness campaign, the guidelines for which were drawn up in consultation with the NSPCC. The charity has advised the FA on all issues of child protection since 1998. The video, which shows the youngsters playing football in the backstreets of Newcastle with the legendary striker, was first shown this week at the FA's national conference on child protection. Football clubs from grassroots level to the professional game will use the video as guidance on adopting policies on child protection. Shearer and Newcastle United manager Bobby Robson have agreed to act as ambassadors for the scheme.
