Blue Cross has become the first charity to receive an accreditation for excellence in managing major corporate projects.
The animal welfare charity has been given the Association for Project Management’s corporate accreditation status for its PlanIt Blue – Corporate Approach to Project Management programme.
Blue Cross is the first charity among 25 organisations, including Rolls Royce, Siemens and EDF Energy, to be given the accolade.
The accreditation indicates that the charity can successfully manage projects such as new builds, refurbishing centres and new kennels or catteries, Blue Cross said.
It also shows that the charity uses resources to maximum benefit and prevents overruns and project delays.
Huw Davies, director of finance and resources at Blue Cross, said: "This should give our donors the confidence that when we spend their generous donations on a project, we are using their money efficiently and effectively."
