Heads of fundraising from about 30 charities review compliance issues and recent media coverage

The Institute of Fundraising’s summit on face-to-face fundraising is taking place today.

The meeting brings together the heads of fundraising from about 30 major UK charities that use face-to-face and has been organised to discuss the future of the technique in the light of recent negative media coverage.

Attendance at the meeting, which is taking place at the institute’s headquarters in London, has been limited to IoF members.

They will review the public’s experience of face-to-face fundraising, its financial importance and whether there are steps that could be taken by the sector, or by the institute, to ensure compliance with high standards.

They will also discuss the fallout from a recent investigation by The Sunday Telegraph newspaper, which found street fundraisers from the agency Tag Campaign potentially breached the IoF’s Code of Fundraising Practice during a pilot campaign for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
