The new Mutuals Ambassadors Programme is designed to promote the mutuals movement and help develop policy

The Cabinet Office has announced plans to start a Mutuals Ambassadors Programme involving 20 "inspiring individuals" from the public service mutuals movement.

The department is asking for people willing to be ambassadors to put their name forward.

Those chosen will be asked to work on a pro bono basis to support existing and developing mutuals, to promote the mutuals movement, to help develop policy around mutuals, and to help build a pipeline of new mutuals, the Cabinet Office said.

The programme is open to those working in England. All names must be submitted by 5 September and the successful applicants will be announced at a reception in the autumn.

The programme will initially run for a year.
