The Social Enterprise Investment Fund will support public sector workers who want to set up independent mutuals

A £19m grant and loan fund for social enterprises in the health and social care sector is now open to applications.

The Social Enterprise Investment Fund, managed on behalf of the Department of Health by the Social Investment Business, will offer capital and revenue grants of between £30,000 and £150,000. It will also make at least £8m of loans. Loans of up to £1m are available.

The fund will support public sector workers who want to set up independent mutuals. A specific loan and grant fund has also been created to pay for IT services to support these mutuals. The fund will also be open to social enterprises and charities working with the NHS.

The fund is open to applications from now until 24 August.
