Guide says team up to get grants

Small and medium-sized charities should team up with similar organisations to boost their chances of winning grants, according to the authors of a new guide published today.

A Practical Guide to Working With Partnerships, produced by the Nottingham Council for Voluntary Service and management consultancy N2 Consulting, is a free step-by-step guide to creating successful partnerships.

The guide outlines six phases of development: creating the strategy; agreeing procedure; ensuring stakeholder support; committing resources; making it happen; and reviewing the development process. It also provides ideas to get partners working together.

Jon Stevens, who co-authored the guide, said funders were reluctant to duplicate funding on projects with similar causes, so organisations needed to partner up.
