Guidestar website delayed to finish consultation

The launch of, the website being developed to provide donors with information about all registered charities in England and Wales, is several months behind schedule.

The site was due to go live before April but has now been put on hold until the summer to allow the organisers to finish consulting with charities about its content.

Guidestar chief executive Erica Roberts said of the delay: "It is a little disappointing, but we need to get it right."

The organisation is currently contacting charities for their feedback on the site, which will eventually provide financial information, contacts, logos, press releases, and narratives from charities that will help put financial data in context. It will also sport links to the individual charities' websites.

Ms Roberts said the site aims to provide a level playing field with information on all registered charities that anyone will be able to access.
