The partnership began last weekend when Ordnance Survey staff took part in the British Heart Foundation's Heart of Surrey Walk. The mapping agency will support a series of walks, intended to boost heart health, until December 2009.

"As well as sponsoring at least 10 walks throughout the year, OS has pledged to raise money in several other fundraising events, where it will be the charity's sole sponsor," said Kate Roberts, senior press officer at the charity.

OS will enter a team of 15 cyclists in the BHF's London to Brighton Bike Ride next June and a walking team in April's South West Randonnee. It will also be the BHF's only sponsor at the Outdoors Show 2009.
