Hub announces regional IT support

The ICT Hub has announced the identities of the nine regional 'champions' that will deliver more than 1,400 days of ICT training, workshops, research and facilitated networking to the English voluntary sector between now and next March.

The champions are all voluntary sector organisations that already have expertise in ICT. They will be expected to signpost voluntary and community organisations to the ICT resources available to them both regionally and nationally, as well as to spread best practice and coordinate awareness-raising events.

Navca’s Paul Webster, who is coordinating the regional champions network, said he hoped the initiative would allow all English regions to reach a uniform level in ICT support by the time the funding for the hubs runs out in March next year. He admitted it was unclear what would happen when the hubs were replaced by the four proposed national support services, on which Capacitybuilders is currently consulting, but said he hoped the network would remain in place.

He said the champions had been chosen on the basis of value for money, reach and experience of working in existing voluntary sector networks. “For small groups or suppliers it’s often just a gentle nudge or steer in the right direction that is needed – something that the regional champions will be equipped to do,” he said.

Full contact details for each regional champion can be found on the ICT Hub’s Regional Infrastructure pages.
