One of the biggest issues within fundraising is recruiting and then retaining good-quality fundraisers. There is a major national shortage as the number of fundraising posts expands and far outstrips the supply of experienced individuals. The health and education world have done a lot to drive up salary levels as they use statutory funding to create new posts to support under-funded services.

Recruit fundraisers who have the Certificate in Fundraising Management, or at least ensure that your fundraisers work towards gaining the certificate.
It will cost you less than a 2 per cent pay rise, but will keep them working for you for longer and make you a much more attractive proposition to other fundraisers.
An employer who is supportive of employees' professional development, supports fundraising, understands the fundraiser's role and is committed to success, will always be more attractive to candidates.
Time and again, it is the work environment and level of support that is important to fundraisers over and above a decent fair wage.
