Interactive website launched to speed up funding process

The Directory of Social Change is launching a website this week that promises to revolutionise the way charities apply for government grants.

The site, at www.government funding.org.uk, is funded by the Home Office Active Communities Unit and allows charities to enquire about and apply for £120m-worth of grants. It aims to simplify and speed up the application process, which currently varies between departments.

The first stage of the website was launched in October (Third Sector, 29 October), allowing fundraisers to get up-to-date information about which grants are available. Since its launch it has had 2 million hits and 6,000 organisations have registered.

Fundraisers will now be able to access the whole process of funding applications across DfES, Home Office, ODPM and DoH.
