Jubilee Action aims to pick up £10m for Third World project

Christian human rights charity Jubilee Action is to seek funding for a series of commercial job creation projects in the Third World which it believes could become the model for development charities' anti-poverty strategies.

The charity hopes to raise around £10 million to fund self-sustaining projects which will include electronics, tourism, food franchise outlets and agriculture. Each project will receive at least £100,000 in funding.

A pilot project to establish a game reserve in South Africa's Eastern Cape is already under way. Marketing officer Mark Rowland said: "We want to educate and inspire other charities to follow our model. We don't want to patent the idea.
