Juniper joins climate change campaign group

Former Friends of the Earth director Tony Juniper is one of three appointments to the advisory board of Sandbag, a community interest company which campaigns against climate change.

Juniper is joined on the board of Sandbag by Ann Pettifor, former head of the Jubilee 2000 Drop the Debt campaign, and Sam Clarke, who is a director of the Network for Social Change and chair of the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition. Sandbag aims to reduce carbon emissions.

The organisation aims to curb pollution by buying emissions permits that companies must purchase under the European Union emissions trading scheme if they carry out activities that will cause pollution.

The Government is offering only a limited number of permits.
