JustGiving adds Apple Pay to online giving platform

It says it has added the mobile payment system to provide a 'fast and convenient' way of donating

Donors using JustGiving are now able to donate to charities using Apple Pay.

The online giving platform has added the mobile payment system in order to provide a "fast and convenient" way of donating.

More than 1,100 UK charities are currently registered on JustGiving and able to receive donations through the site using Apple Pay. They were notified by email of the changes.

JustGiving said that security and privacy were at the core of Apple Pay: when someone uses a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique device account number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the secure element on a person’s device. Each transaction is authorised with a one-time unique dynamic security code.

Speaking about the new feature, Neil Bannister, managing director of JustGiving UK, said: "JustGiving has always been dedicated to ensuring that we use the latest technologies to make giving easier than ever before. Including Apple Pay in our platform will do just that and will add an even greater flexibility for people to donate through JustGiving on their iPhones, iPads and Macs on Safari."
