Mavor will join the trust in March from Project Scotland, where she has been chief executive since 2005. She succeeds Mark Adderley, who left by mutual agreement last year (Third Sector Online, 18 September 2008).

Mavor will become the fourth person to lead the organisation since January 2006. She declined to speak to Third Sector, but in a statement said she felt privileged to be joining the organisation.

"I am passionate about Scotland's history and heritage and know how much we all owe to the National Trust for Scotland," the statement said. "I am very much looking forward to joining the National Trust for Scotland next month."
