Kirsty Smith joins CBM UK as chief executive

- Kirsty Smith will join the overseas disability charity CBM UK as chief executive in September. She has been chief executive of the Methodist Relief & Development Fund for the past 12 years.

- Michael WegierMichael Wegier (right) has been appointed chief executive of the United Jewish Israel Appeal, which supports young Jewish people. Wegier, who has been executive director of the Melitz educational institute in Jerusalem for five years, will take up the role in September.

- Richard Hoey, former editor of the medical magazine Pulse, has joined the Institute of Cancer Research as director of communications.

- Tom McLaren WebbTom McLaren Webb (right) has been appointed director of social action at the social action charity We're Altogether Better. He joins from Action for Children, where he was head of campaigning.

- Marie Curie Cancer Care has appointed Phil McCarvill as head of policy and public affairs for England and Simon Jones in the same role covering Wales. McCarvill was an associate fellow at the Institute for Public Policy Research; Jones was a partner at the headhunting firm Odgers Berndtson.
