Literacy Trust joins up with Amazon for charity promotion

The National Literacy Trust has formed a partnership with online bookstore Amazon.co.uk.

The company will donate £1 to the charity for every children's book sold as part of its Easter promotion, which runs until 8 April. The titles in the promotion include the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings book sets.

The money raised will go to support the charity's Reading is Fundamental initiative, which aims to promote reading in areas where children and families do not have books at home. The scheme has been running since 1996 and has provided 270,000 books for 90,000 children.

The trust's director Neil McClelland said: "The aim is create a book-reading culture among children, coupled with positive attitudes to reading."
