Lloyds TSB Foundation hands out £4.2m

Latest round of Community Programme funding shared between 164 charities

The Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales has given £4.2m in grants to 164 charities in its latest round of funding.

The foundation said that more than two-thirds of the grants made through its Community Programme were for the core running and salary costs of small and medium-sized charities.

"In this uncertain time for the voluntary sector, it is more essential than ever that we continue to support charities' day-to-day running costs, including salaries," said Linda Kelly, chief executive of the Lloyds TSB Foundation.

"The successful charities have shown us that their core community-based work will deliver significant changes and benefits for those people who rely on their services."

Twenty of the funding recipients provide advice, advocacy and outreach work to disadvantaged people and will share £625,000 between them. The Time Exchange Newcastle, a community time bank, has been awarded a grant of more than £28,000, which will enable it to open five days a week.
