London staff can share their skills

London-based fundraisers seeking volunteering opportunities are being invited to share their skills with overseas development charities.

The Knowledge is Power project, which has been organised by fundraising charity the Resource Alliance, consists of eight fortnightly seminars in London, starting this week.

At each event, fundraisers will work alongside visitors from South American countries in seminars on topics such as the basics of fundraising, how to secure grants and how to write funding proposals.

"We want to encourage UK fundraisers to join the programme so that South American fundraisers based in London can take the skills home with them when they leave," said Caroline Herrera, the project's coordinator. "Over the eight seminars, we aim to form a panel of volunteer fundraisers who will lead each session."

The seminars will take place on Tuesday evenings at the Resource Alliance offices in Old Street, London EC2. More information can be found at www.the-kip-project.co.uk.
