McArdle joins YWCA as services director

YWCA England & Wales has appointed the former manager of Sandwell Rape Crisis Centre as its new director of services.

Pat McArdle joins the YWCA, which works with disadvantaged women, after three years at the crisis centre. She also spent six years as head of services at umbrella body the Foyer Federation.

McArdle said the charity was a good fit for her personally. "The YWCA combines two of my great passions: gender equality and working with young people," she said.

"Giving a voice to young women could not be more important than it is today, at a time when there is a tendency to focus on the problems faced by young women – not their contributions, talents and ambitions."
