Media Trust joins push for respect

Communication charity the Media Trust today launched a mentoring scheme aimed at bringing together media professionals and vulnerable young people.

Funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the youth mentoring initiative is part of the Government's Respect Action Plan, aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour.

ITV, Channel 4 and The Times are among the media organisations that have already joined the scheme. Barnardo's, the Foyer Federation and UK Youth will also take part.

Andy Duncan, chairman of the Media Trust and chief executive of Channel 4, said: "This is a fantastic way for the media industry to reach out to young people and ultimately help them to change the direction of their lives."
