Helen Warrell's round-up of what's happening in the finance world.

- The Charity Finance Directors' Group will hold its London members' meeting on 5 February. Simon Braid and Marianne Fallon of KPMG LLP will advise on how charities can develop financial plans. Mark Salway, finance director at Care International UK, will look at financial planning and strategy. 

- The Community Development Finance Association has met finance ministers to discuss Community Development Finance Initiatives from regional development agencies, business simplification, and the proposed Social Exclusion Unit social equity fund. CDFA chair Naomi Kingsley (below) and chief executive Bernie Morgan met competitiveness minister Stephen Timms and Secretary to the Treasury Angela Eagle.

- The Social Enterprise Coalition will hold its annual conference, Voice, at Liverpool's Convention Centre on 26 and 27 February. Speakers include Hazel Blears, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Phil Hope (above), Minister for the Third Sector, and Francis Maude, shadow Cabinet Office minister. Victor Adebowale, chief executive of Turning Point, and Tim Campbell, founder of the Bright Ideas Trust, will also appear. - Legal publisher Jordans will be holding a charity tax seminar in London on 6 February, covering Gift Aid, VAT and trading activities. Speakers include Helen Donoghue, director of the Charity Tax Group, and Kate Sayer of Sayer Vincent.
