The Social Enterprise Coalition is calling for entries to its annual photography competition. The amateur photography contest aims to show how social enterprises transform communities. Entries can be submitted until 19 October to Last year's winner was a picture of the work done by healthy living social enterprise Upstream.

Charity investment firm Rensburg Sheppards has appointed Simon Barker as director of new business in its charities division. Barker joins from Asset Risk Consultants, where his role included advising charities on their investment portfolios, risk profiling and setting strategic investment parameters. He has also worked at Schroders and Global Asset Management.

The Charity Finance Directors' Group will hold its first annual conference for charity finance professionals in the south west and Wales on 1 October in Cardiff. Plenary speakers will be Andrew Hind, chief executive of the Charity Commission, and Robert Taylor, director of Age Concern Cymru and Help the Aged in Wales.
