Hinson was previously director of nursing and patient services at the hospice, which is in Milton Keynes. He will replace Christopher Eyes, who is retiring after 10 years.

"My long-term vision is to meet the challenges of caring for patients, wherever they choose that to be, and also to better meet the needs of non-cancer patients," said Hinson. "I would also like to achieve financial stability for the hospice and find enough predictable income streams to plan for the future."

Leanne Woodward will be taking over from Hinson and joins from the Isabel Hospice, where she was a unit manager.
