Edwards was previously UK representative at the international mental health charity BasicNeeds, where she had worked since it was formed in 1999. In her new role, she will also act as director for the sister trust of the Andrews Charitable Trust, the Christian Initiative Trust.

"The trust provided BasicNeeds with its initial funding, which is how I came to know of its heritage in fostering inspirational people to implement new initiatives," said Edwards. "It has been instrumental in establishing emerging organisations tackling poverty in the UK and the developing world."
