Navca and Zurich to assess event risks

Sector umbrella body Navca has set up a partnership with insurance firm Zurich to help community groups assess appropriate levels of risk cover for local events.

The scheme was prompted by research among Navca members showing that community groups were often unsure about what type of insurance they needed. Zurich will now offer insurance policies that are written specifically to cater for local community groups and run workshops to build understanding of risk management in general.

"We look for relationships with major corporations that can bring real benefits to the local voluntary sector," said Kevin Curley, chief executive of Navca.
