NCH and Comet join up over web safety

Children's charity NCH has teamed up with electrical retailer Comet to provide web safety seminars in the company's stores to highlight the danger of paedophiles on the internet.

"NCH has run similar seminars in schools before, but this is the first time we've had access to parents, children and teachers through a retailer," said NCH spokeswoman Beth Tanton.

The seminars are taking place at 13 stores across the country, and those attending will be given a set of internet safety guidelines.

The partnership comes a month after Comet agreed to install child protection software that blocks access to chat rooms and prevents children from giving contact details on all of its own-brand computers sold to domestic users (Third Sector, 23 July 2003).
