NCVO collaborates over democracy essays

Umbrella body the NCVO and the Local Government Association have published a series of essays on greater participation in the local political process.

The collection, called Votes and Voices, includes nine essays on local democracy from the public and voluntary sectors and from academia.

The NCVO and the LGA are also jointly hosting a debate today on the nature of representative and participative democracy at Local Government House in Westminster, London.

"Last year we forged an agreement with the LGA to work together more closely on issues affecting civil society," said Stuart Etherington, chief executive of the NCVO. "Today is a very good example of this partnership in action."
