You'll have to look hard to spot one of the latest additions to the Charity Commission register, Les Petits Cameleons, which works to improve awareness of French culture among Francophone children in the UK. It might even have been there for a while without anyone noticing.

Perhaps harder to miss is another new entry, the Singing Gorilla Projects - no, not an attempt to lull Tarzan to sleep at night, unfortunately, but a fund for community projects in rural Uganda. Also unafraid to sing its own praises is new joiner The Fabulous Foundation, an education and scholarship charity.

Extra rainfall is to be expected as winter closes in, but you wonder if the folks at The Noah Initiative know something the weatherman neglected to mention. Still, they're not building boats at the moment - they're too busy offering education in Kenya.

Leaving the register were Let's Hold Hands, which presumably received a resounding "no", the British Philatelic Trust, which caught the last post, and Christian counselling service the Shadow Trust, whose lights have finally gone out.
