The Department for Culture, Media and Sport has confirmed it will reduce proposed regulatory fees for society - including charity - lotteries that accept 'remote' credit card payments by telephone or the internet (Third Sector, 7 March).

The fees are to be reduced to match those for the regulation of non-remote payments.Christian Aid Week (13-19 May) is adopting a green theme for its 50th anniversary this year by encouraging donors to plant trees to support its overseas work on climate change.

The Alzheimer's Society has raised £230,000 from a Daily Mail campaign to raise funds for a legal battle. It is mounting a High Court challenge to a decision by NHS advisory body the National Centre for Clinical Excellence to limit the use of drugs for the disease (Third Sector, 21 February).

PDSA, the veterinary charity, says the number of its donation bags that are stolen has risen by 50 per cent. Shop managers in Oldham and Plymouth both recently reported incidences of theft.
