Six workers at the Prince's Foundation for Integrated Health will lose jobs

A charity founded by Prince Charles to promote alternative healthcare has announced it will shut down after police made arrests in relation to a £300,000 hole in its accounts.

The trustees of the Prince's Foundation for Integrated Health released a statement last Friday saying the charity was closing immediately because it had achieved its goals. Its six members of staff will be made redundant.

The statement said the closure had been planned for several months, but had been brought forward as a result of the investigation into the unaccounted-for £300,000.

Earlier this week, the Economic and Specialist Crime Command of the Metropolitan Police made two arrests.

"The trustees feel that the foundation has achieved its key objective of promoting the use of integrated health," the charity's statement said. "Since the foundation was set up in 1993, integrated health has become part of the mainstream healthcare agenda."

A spokeswoman for Clarence House said: "The Prince of Wales is proud of the achievements of his foundation, which has brought together hundreds of advocates of integrated health who can work more closely together to meet patients' needs.

"The prince has been a catalyst for raising the profile of integrated health."
