Compact Voice gets people talking

By Paul Jump, Third Sector Online, 10 January 2008

Compact Voice has launched an online discussion forum for charities to share their experiences of contracting with government.

Compact Voice communicates the sector’s views on funding and consultation issues to government. Stefan Simanowitz, National Compact Voice Officer, said the organisation’s representations would be informed by the discussions.

“It is a means of making sure we are having a dialogue with our members as widely as possible,” he said. “It is the equivalent of our local Compact Voice networks at a national level.”

The National Compact Voice Network will work in a similar way to social networking sites such as Facebook, allowing members to invite their peers to join, as well as to start and contribute to discussion threads.

Simanowitz said he hoped that the network would have several hundred members within a few months. “Only about two per cent of people engage actively in discussions so we need a wide membership to keep the forum active,” he said.

Members of the network will also receive updates of compact-related news. It can be joined for free online or by emailing NCVO.
