Campaigns by Elephant Family, The Dogs Trust, Crimestoppers and Mary's Meals feature.
Elephant Family, the wildlife conservation charity, is raising funds to secure land for the threatened Asian elephant in India. The charity is touring major landmarks in England and Ireland with a 13-strong herd of life-size topiary elephants on its Survival Tour. The tour is being run in partnership with the Royal Parks Foundation and the World Land Trust. So far, it has raised more than half of its £500,000 target through public donations, sale of the elephants, business sponsorships of individual sculptures and a charity auction at Guards Polo Club. The hedge-like herd is currently on display at Selfridges on London's Oxford Street.
The Dogs Trust will receive 10 pence from every beer sold at the Beerhouse in Islington, north London, during its 'Oktoberfest' from 18 September to 1 November.
Crimestoppers will benefit from a 60-mile sailing challenge being taken by representatives from 20 UK police services in September. These participants in the Isle of Wight Capgemini Sailing Challenge hope to raise more than £100,000.
Mary's Meals, a charity that sends school equipment to children in Malawi, Uganda and Liberia, is urging UK schoolchildren to support its Backpack Project by donating their old rucksacks when they return to school in September with new ones.
The Devon Air Ambulance Trust is being supported by three outdoor enthusiasts who are walking 300 miles around the Cornish coastline to raise funds. They hope to raise £1,500.
