The weather presenter relishes lending her time and profile to charity work.
She's a familiar face on ITV National Weather, but for many people Sian Lloyd has a more important role. Action for Children, the Prince's Trust, Breakthrough Breast Cancer, British Red Cross and the Meningitis Trust are among the charities that she gives her time to.
"I've been involved in charities throughout my life," says Lloyd. "My parents were always involved. We'd always be collecting money for local charities and hospices. Now that I've got a bit of a profile, I can add several gears to that."
Lloyd is vice-president of Action for Children and a patron of the Cardiff children's hospice Ty Hafan. She launched Red Cross Appeal Week this year, and has taken part in a number of fundraising treks.
In 2007, she won the annual Rear of the Year award. "It's funny, but there's a serious point there too, because it promotes bowel cancer," she says. "It's a disease that people don't like talking about, so it's important to raise awareness."
Lloyd says she enjoys charity work and regards it as her duty to take advantage of her profile. One of the best things about supporting charities, she adds, is that the people are always nice - unlike those in the cut-throat media world.
She says, with good humour: "It reminds you how many nice people are out there. In my media world, people can be go-getting, and it's good to spend time with charities and see what a fighting spirit they and their beneficiaries have."
