Disabled support charity takes new name
Tact UK, which provides support to people with learning disabilities in their own homes, has changed its name to the Affinity Trust.
The charity was established as the Thames and Chiltern Trust in 1991 to deliver specialised support designed to promote independent living.
It runs support schemes working with 550 people with learning disabilities in England and Scotland.
The Affinity Trust says that because people now have the option of choosing their own support providers through individual budgets, it needed a name that better reflected its reputation as an approachable and responsive provider.
Leo Sowerby, chief executive of the trust, said: "Our name change heralds the beginning of a new phase in the development of our organisations, during which we remain committed to enabling the people we support to achieve their individual goals and aspirations."
