World of Difference scheme will be advertised to public
The Vodafone Foundation is offering bursaries to enable international charities to employ people to work on overseas projects.
The World of Difference scheme will give eight successful applicants the chance to work on overseas projects for UK-registered charities of their choice for a year, with a salary of up to £25,000 plus £20,000 in expenses, all funded by the foundation.
The organisation is urging charities to encourage people they think might be good candidates, such as those already volunteering within their organisations, to apply for one of the bursaries. Small organisations would particularly benefit, a spokeswoman for the Vodafone Foundation said.
The competition, which is also being advertised to the public, closes on 30 July and winners will be announced in September.
The Vodafone Foundation will announce the second stage of the scheme, which will fund workers on projects in the UK for less than a year, also in September.
